9.30 am : Arrival to Hermalle-sous-Huy; welcome and coffee in the " Farm castrale "

At the center of an important tourist, commercial, scientific, artistic and sports region, between Liège and Huy, close to Bierset and to Tihange, with easy access, only 500 metres from the N-90 Liège-Huy motorway, Hermalle-sous-Huy maintains a countryside calm. In the heart of the ancient village, elegant houses of the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries - among which the native home of the chief mason Jean-Gille Jacob, decorated with paintings unique in Europe representing the construction professionals of the XVIIIth century - surround the castle, ringed by moats and its historic farm. Past the postern, you discover a charming terrace in bloom and penetrate in one most beautiful barns of the province of Liège where take place your welcome.

10 am : Guided visit of the Gourmet Museum and/or of the Museum "Postes restantes"

Curious or rare objects, pictures, forgotten tools, apparently " useless " objects...
You will be astonished, captivated, charmed !
And your guide will give all necessary explanations with cordiality and humor. It is promised, you will very often smile !

12.30 hs: Lunch, concocted according to old returns, to the Inn of the Museum :

2.50 pm : Departure toward Huy for one guided visit of the collegiate and the old city.

Place of markets since the antique, Huy was the first city in " Belgium " to receive a charter of liberties in 1066, compensation to the is given by the middle classes for the restoration of the collegiate. Until 1963 (date of the breakthrough of a big boulevard), the city kept its urban diagram as in the Middle Ages. Alleys, old houses, that's what makes it still now so attractive !
The collegiate that you will visit, is the 5th church constructed at the same place since the 4th century, one of the most beautiful buildings from the 14th and 15th centuries in Belgium.
Classified " major Patrimony of Wallonia ", it remains an active cult place. Its portal " of Bethlehem " is universally known. Its rose window, Rondia ", constitutes one of the "four wonders " of Huy.
Two of this wonders, the " Pontia " (old bridge on Meuse) and the "Tchestia" (the most beautiful European fortified castle in the 18th century) were previously demolished ; the last, the " Bassinia " (fountain) from the 14th century is in the middle of the Big place, before the town hall constructed by Jean - Gilles Jacob (of Hermalle) to the 18th century. You will be able to admire it during the walk in the old city.

5.15 pm : Enjoy yourself !

Many stores, fine grocery stores, inns… invite you to pursue yourself the exploration of the city. Also glance at the fortified building, rebuilds in 1818, that dominates the collegiate and look after the Meuse...

6.30 pm : Return.
